Mark W. Courtney, 68, formerly of Haverhill, passed away unexpectedly in Brockton on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born in Methuen on October 11, 1957, son of Barbara I. (White) Courtney and the late Thomas G.A. Courtney.
Mark was educated in the Haverhill School System and graduated from Whittier Vo-Tech, Class of 1976. He went on to serve our country in the United States Army. He worked in the shipping and receiving department for Cedar's Mediterranean Foods in Haverhill.
Mark loved music, fishing, as well as playing cards and cribbage. He was an avid reader and loved Sudoku puzzles. Also, in the 1970's, Mark was credited with saving the life of a young child who had fallen into the Merrimac river.
In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his children Sarah and Steven, his siblings Mary P. Desmond and her husband Humphrey of Billerica, Thomas G. Courtney, Jr. and his wife Marie of Salem New Hampshire, Pamela J. Courtney of Haverhill, Brian T. Courtney of Lawrence, and James M. Courtney of New Bedford, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, November 11 from 6-8 PM in the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 12 at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill, MA 01832. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow.
