Mark Clayton Crawford, 70, of Hopewell passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Born March 4, 1954, he was the son of the late Erma Titmus Nichols and Roy William Crawford, Jr., and was also preceded in death by his brother, Bill Crawford.

Mark found great happiness assisting his father on the family farm. Driving tractors and working with farm equipment brought him a sense of pride and accomplishment. His love for the farm reflected his strong bond with his family and his delight in being part of something meaningful.

As a proud Special Olympics bowler, Mark’s dedication and enthusiasm shone brightly. He brought the same energy to the Snowflake Ball and other dance events. These gatherings were a highlight of his life, and his joy was contagious to all who shared the dance floor with him.

Mark is survived by two sisters, Marsha B. Mann and husband, Donnie, Kelly Ingram and husband, Tim; brother, Chris Crawford and wife, Tammy; numerous nieces and nephews; two special girlfriends, Bonnie Belle and Mary; all the wonderful caregivers and day support at A&J Residential Services; and many beloved friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 16, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics, 3212 Skipwith Road, Suite 100 Richmond, VA 23294, or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805.
