Rev. Cunningham was my class of 1992 advisor from Watervliet High School. Although I never had any classes with him, he was an educator outside the classroom. He was an exceptional English teacher. Nevertheless, he left Watervliet High because he was needed more as a priest.

Mark was a college friend and fellow MYSKANIA member at U. Albany in 1969. I remember years later his giving an invocation at a meeting at U/A and learning of his being a Deacon and in the seminary to become a Priest. I felt privileged to have been invited to his ordination, a ceremony I will never forget. And then one Sunday (a little late for Mass) I was in the back of the church at Christ the King and heard a voice I recognized - Mark Cunningham's voice ?? Yes it was and it was so wonderful to call him Father Mark Cunningham - my Priest. I am blessed to have had his path here on earth cross my path here so often. It was my deep privilege and pleasure to have know Father Mark Cunningham.

Father was a special and dedicated priest who made a tremendous impact on my life. I first met Father when he was "Mr. Cunningham" during his pastoral year of seminary at St. Thomas in Delmar, and he continued to support me during high school, including helping me prepare for my SAT. He helped me through some challenging times in my teens and 20s, and was a concelebrating priest at my wedding. Thank you, Father for all you did for me, and giving me the confidence and support I needed at different times of my life. You will be missed!
