Mark DeRuyter, 81, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Rocky Knoll Health Center.
Mark was born on October 24, 1942, to Lewis and Ruth (Lammers) DeRuyter. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1960.
Mark was united in marriage to Carol DeSmith on October 16, 1965. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1998.
Mark was a truck driver for many years and worked for various companies, with the most recent being Joosse Trucking. During his career, Mark had driven over 3 million miles. He farmed on the family dairy farm for many years. Mark and Carol were part of the original Sheboygan County 4H Dog Project and were involved in many dog shows and obedience trainings.
Mark is survived by his children, Kathy (Eugene) Schwartz of Glenbulah and Scott (Judy) DeRuyter of Oostburg; grandchildren, Becky Schwartz of Stevens Point, Jenny (Jon) Gideon of Franklin, Caleb and Evan DeRuyter of Oostburg; siblings, Edith Beernink, Ralph (Lynda) DeRuyter, Althea (Allan) VerVelde, Phyllis Parrish; brother-in-law, Ron (Marty) DeSmith; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, infant son, parents, brother Allen DeRuyter, and siblings-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:00pm. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the time of service.
