Mark Desautels Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 9, 2025.
Agawam – Mark R. Desautels, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2025. Mark's passing leaves a profound sense of loss in the hearts of all who knew him. He was loved by many and will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and selflessness.

Born in Springfield, MA, Mark was son of Eleanor (Mastrangelo) Desautels and the late Raymond Desautels. A graduate of Cathedral High School and Porter & Chester Institute, Mark built a successful career as a road service technician at Maybury Material Handling, where he worked for 33 years. He was known for his mechanical skills, and he was able to fix any problem.

Mark found his greatest joys in simple pleasures. He was a lifelong fisherman and boating enthusiast, spending many hours on the water. His love for cooking was evident at every gathering, especially BBQs with his hand-made smoker. Mark and his beloved daughter, Sammi, shared a special bond-exploring new coffee shops, cafes, always sampling the most adventurous items on the menu.

Mark was a devoted husband to Diane (Morey) Desautels for thirty years and a loving father to Sammi. He leaves sisters Dena Brayson and her husband Jerry of Ware, MA, Christine Adams of Longmeadow, godchildren Hannah and Nathan Adams, and 25 nieces and nephews. His love extended to the family pets, especially Buddy.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Desautels.

We will never forget Mark's acts of love and helpful deeds, even in his final years despite his health changes. It was in his kind and gentle nature to do for others.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to his LVAD team at Brigham and Women's Hospital for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 on October 19 at Nutmeg Restaurant in East Windsor, CT. Encouraging bright colors or Hawaiian print! In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Https://give.brighamandwomens.org/ in Mark's memory.
