Mark A. DeVan, 69
Mark A. DeVan, 69 of Ashland passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born in Ashland, Ohio on April 23, 1954 the son of Jack and Carol (nee Phillips) DeVan.
Mark graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1972. Following his graduation, Mark furthered his education at the Ohio State University in Mansfield.
He married the former Rita Amend on August 21, 1993.
Throughout his life, there wasn't anything he wouldn't tackle. His working career took him from appliances at DeVan's Maytag to commercial repairs, spending 29 years working for Wenco before leaving one and a half years ago.
Mark enjoyed doing acrylic abstract art. He always said it was "cheaper than therapy". He kept his great sense of humor thru out.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughter. He was passionate about family and the outdoors. He so enjoyed his "Bro-time", he called it, whether hunting or just reminiscing of the past with his brother and best friend, Bill. Mark enjoyed so many frequent trips with Rita to Hocking Hills.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rita DeVan of Ashland; one daughter, Melissa Xox of Columbus, Michigan; his mother, Carol DeVan of Ashland; two granddaughters, Caelynn Craine of Waterford, Michigan and Milanna Xox of Columbus, Michigan; one great grandson, Ryan Bloch; one sister, Karen (Chip) Salyer of Glenmont; and one brother, Bill (Terry) DeVan of Perrysville; brother-in-law, Ed (Brenda) Amend of Ashland; nieces, Tracy (Mike) Henthorn of Ashland, Jennifer (Gary) Baker of Shelby, Sara Salyer of Glenmont, Eliza (Tommy) Jenkins of Ashland; nephew, Ezra (Missy) Amend of Jeromesville; and multiple great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Jack DeVan; one sister, Kim DeVan; his in-laws, Delbert and Peggy Amend Sr; and his sister-in-law, Carol Aulger.
In keeping with his wishes no services will be observed.
