Mark Devlin, 42, of Sanford, Florida, passed away on June 17, 2025, surrounded by loving friends after a courageous journey with cancer. Born December 13, 1982, Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. His dedication, loyalty, and sense of duty were hallmarks of his character both in uniform and throughout his life.
Mark was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and the genuine warmth he brought to everyone around him. He had a way of making people laugh, feel seen, and feel loved, gifts that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Rieske; father, Daniel Devlin; and stepfather, Mark Rieske. He will be forever missed by his siblings : John Rieske (Kara Horstmann), Marcia Collet (Cory Collet), and Kim Rieske. Mark also leaves behind countless devoted friends who became family and stood by his side with unwavering love and support, especially during his final year. Mark also leaves behind a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his humor and loyalty.
Mark faced the past year with remarkable courage and spirit, never losing the spark that made him so special. His family is deeply grateful for the many friends who became family and helped care for him and lift his spirits until the very end.
A celebration of Mark’s life and his service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends honor Mark by sharing a laugh, raising a glass, and cherishing time spent with loved ones, just as he always did. Mark’s light, love, and legacy of service will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
A formal service and burial with military honors will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, in the coming weeks. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.
