Mark Eagle Chasing

Funeral services for Mark Eagle Chasing, 41, of Sioux Falls, and former Wakpala, resident, will be Monday, Apr. 1 at 10:00AM, CDT, at the Wakpala Community Center. Burial follows at St. Bede's Catholic Cemetery, Wakpala. A procession will leave Stout Family Funeral Home, Mobridge at 6:00PM Sunday to go to the community center for wake services beginning at 7:00PM. Mark entered the spirit world March 22, 2013 in Boulder, Colorado. www.stoutfamilyfh.com Frowin Mark Eagle Chasing was born January 23, 1972 in Fort Yates, ND to Roletta Afraid of Lightning and Marion Eagle Chasing Jr. Mark grew up with his great-grandparents Martin and Agatha Holy Bull, living in Wakpala and Bridger, SD and Bismarck, ND. He resided in Sioux Falls, SD until his passing on March 22, 2013 in Boulder, CO. He attended school in Wakpala and Red Scaffold SD. In 2003 Mark received a degree in Carpentry in Florence, CO. Mark was a gifted artist, songwriter, and poet. He was free-spirited, loved to travel and enjoyed music and craftwork. He resided for a short time on the Standing Rock Reservation before starting his travels around the U.S. All who knew Mark knew he loved to visit and laugh and joke with friends and family. Mark is survived by his daughters, Patricia Collins of Nashville, TN and D'Shaun Starr Eagle Chasing of Eagle Butte, SD; his mother, Roletta (William) Pretty Weasel of Eagle Butte, SD; grandmother, Mary Good Eagle of Wakpala, SD; siblings, Flora (Nilus Blacklance) Eagle Chasing of Bismarck, ND, Leslie Terrill Iron Cloud of Wakpala, SD, Angie Iron Cloud of Cannonball, ND, Memoree Thomas of Sioux Falls, SD, Michelle (Ryan Bluecoat, Sr.) Thomas of Rapid City, SD, Cody Thomas of Flandreau, SD, Chelsey White Eyes of Eagle Butte, SD, Stuart Turning Heart of Little Eagle, SD; step-sisters, Kristin Pretty Weasel of Eagle Butte, SD and Jayme Lopez of Rapid City, SD; granddaughter, Isabella Rucker, Nashville, TN; nieces and nephews, Jordan Eagle Chasing, Jessica Ducheneaux, Justin Eagle Chasing, Francis Halfe, Jr., FawnaRae Halfe, Kendall Iron Cloud, Alani Black Elk, Makhalia Thomas, Emily Earring, Ryan Bluecoat Jr., Darrin Thomas, Mischa-Belle Thomas, Carrie Turning Heart, Shota Turning Heart; grandchildren, JonniMae Ducheneaux and Melee Eagle Chasing.
