Mark Scott Flick, age 67, of Bethpage passed away on July 29, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He had been battling a rare neuron disease since 2011 with great faith, grace and dignity. He was born on October 12, 1953 in Flint, Michigan to James Flick and Dorothy Young.
Mark worked for Reliant Realty where he never met a stranger. He always went above and beyond the needs of his clients. He was very passionate about his work.
Mark and his wife Suzanne had a big love for animals. As a team, they created and operated the Flick Petting Farm for 28 years. They shared their many blessings with thousands of children creating lasting memories for so many. Mark was able to give his children a most unique childhood. They were able to help raise and eat with and sleep with exotic animals like monkeys, bobcats, camels, Canadian lynx, wallabies, sloths, raccoons, African servals, numerous reptiles and so many more.
Mark was an avid collector of antique clocks from all over the world. He also enjoyed exotic fish and always had at least one aquarium. He married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Oates, on December 10, 1971. Mark also loved playing basketball and horseshoes with his children, playing UNO with his grandchildren, and he enjoyed watching musicals – especially State Fair, RENT and Phantom of the Opera.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend who will truly be missed. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Oates Flick; children Mark Flick II, Michael Flick, Melissa Hughes and Matthew Flick; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; siblings James Flick, Randy Flick, Candy Staten and Wendy Downie; and his beloved dogs Bella, Casey and Muskie.
