Mark Fralish Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hahn Funeral Home on Sep. 17, 2022.
Beloved son and brother, Mark "Markie" Anthony Fralish, 32, was born on November 3, 1989, and passed away at home September 14, 2022 (the Feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross), after being called to Heaven by God. Mark was a wonderful person who brought joy, grace, peace and inspiration to all who loved him. Markie was also a fighter who overcame challenges with strength, tenacity, and firm perseverance. He inspired his family to never give up, never back down, and always fight for those who need help.
As a person with special needs, Mark's life also led to significant efforts in the South Bend area to provide excellent education and services for people with special needs, particularly children with autism. As a young child, Mark was one of the first of two boys in the area to receive Applied Behavioral Analysis training, a groundbreaking therapy for children with autism. This program ultimately led to better understanding in the South Bend area of how to advance high expectations for children with autism and the creation of several schools for children with autism. During his early years many Notre Dame and Saint Mary's students loved helping him learn and play as volunteers in his home program. From grade school years forward, he learned to use a facilitative communication board with much skill. He also learned high school level topics through a program with the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia, PA.
Mark loved his Mom, Dad, and siblings. He loved spending time with his family, walks outside, wheelchair rides, reading, listening to music and watching Mary TV. Mark made the world undoubtedly a better place with his light and kindness. The biggest gift he imparted to those he knew was his Peaceful Presence. Mark is survived by his mom, Barbara; dad, Stephen; sister, Teresa; and two brothers, John and Matthew. He is dearly missed.
