Mark Douglas Hayden, age 56, passed away in Council Bluffs on January 16, 2026.
Mark was an extraordinary soul-goofy, Jesus-loving, and endlessly kind-hearted. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation, who stopped for anyone in need, who lived his life with a selflessness that left an imprint on everyone he met. His generosity wasn't a gesture; it was his nature.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, David Hayden, and his sister, Ilene Gowan.
He is survived by his daughter, Alexis (RaeJean) Marquez; his son, Andrew Hayden; step daughter; Chelsea (Matthew) Oropeza; his mother, Kathleen Hayden; and his siblings Debbie (Mel) Hatcher, Marty (Angela) Hayden, Mitch Hayden, Monte (Connie) Hayden, and Micheal Hayden. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him.
Mark will be deeply missed by countless people. His huge heart, his unforgettable laugh, and his legendary dance moves will continue to echo in the memories of all who loved him. Today, we find comfort in knowing he is walking with Jesus-the place he always talked about being. He is at peace, watching over us with the same love he carried in life. We now have the most beautiful and loving guardian angel.
Until we meet again, Hef.
