Mark J. Hindermann, 88, of Pine Island, MN passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN.
Mark John Hindermann was born March 18, 1935 in St. Paul, MN the son of Winfred and Joyce (Peterson) Hindermann. He was a graduate of Duluth East High School and continued his education at the University of Minnesota earning a degree in Civil Engineering. At the age of 21, he served as justice of the peace in Falcon Heights, MN, the youngest at the time.
He was united in marriage to Suzanne Strander on November 26, 1960. They made their home in Rochester before settling in Pine Island in 2003. Suzanne passed away in February of 2010.
Mark eventually became reacquainted with Jean McCallum whom he had originally met years earlier when they both attended the University of Minnesota, They were married in December of 2010 and enjoyed 9 years together.
Mark was an entrepreneur and had many business ventures, most notably Rochester Sand & Gravel and North Star Asphalt that he co-owned and operated with business partner William Fitzgerald.
Mark enjoyed playing golf, gardening, cheering on the MN Vikings, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Matt (Becky) Hindermann of Rochester, MN, Tom Hindermann of Willow, AK, and Laura (Kurt) Claussen of Rochester, MN; four grandchildren, Joe (Melissa) Hindermann, Mike Hindermann, Kari Claussen and Kevin Claussen; his sister, Mary Heuston of Eagle River, AK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Suzanne; son, Michael; daughter, Lisa and brother, David.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Funeral service will be at 11am on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, MN.
