Mark Hochschild Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - Capitol Drive on Nov. 22, 2024.
Hochschild, Mark Steven – Born July 17, 1949 – Found eternal peace on November 11, 2024, at the age of 75.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy (Shilts); best girl dad to Lisa (Destiny) Beaugrand and Sara (Ryan) Hartig. Proud grandpa of Emily and Madelyn Hartig.
Mark is survived by and is "big" brother to Dale (Lynda) Hochschild, Mary Jo Kovochich, Janet (Gerry) Wambach, and Nancy (John) Nepscha. Mark is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jeanne Shilts. He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Dorothy (Nawrocki) Hochschild, his in-laws Gilbert and Marlys (Drana) Shilts, and most recently, his best friend and brother-in-law, Edward Kovochich.
From his humble beginnings at K-Mart to his days at the City of Milwaukee and the City of Greenfield, Mark worked hard to take care of his family. The weeks were sometimes long but the weekends were often spent at some sort of sporting event for the girls. He even had the opportunity to coach Lisa's 8th grade basketball team and got to help coach a basketball team that Sara played on in New York. The summers were usually spent at church festivals, going camping and on family summer vacations.
Upon retiring from the City of Greenfield, Mark continued "working" and became athletic director at St. Joan Antida High School in Milwaukee for a year, then at St. Monica Grade School in Whitefish Bay for a short time. After that, Mark became the volleyball coordinator for the North Shore League for a few years and found time to even referee some volleyball games. But his favorite time of year was the Padre Serra Basketball Tournament. Whether he was behind the microphone announcing games or just doing the scorebook, Mark loved being a part of that tournament. One thing was for sure: No matter what gym he was in, no matter what sport he was watching, there was ALWAYS a bag of popcorn in his hand.
When Mark wasn't busy with work or sports, he was usually spending time with his family. In recent years, at least once a year, the Hochschild siblings and their spouses would get together up at the Kovochich cabin for a weekend. Mark loved going up there and being at the lake. He loved just sitting and having long conversations with Uncle Ed. The two of them would just sit and talk and just enjoy being there. He loved being at the cabin as much as he loved being with his family,
"Dad really did love his family. Mom, Sara and I miss him more than words can describe. We know that he is looking down on us everyday and making sure that we are all ok."
In accordance with Mark's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mark and his beautiful wife and my best friend Kathy have been my friends for over 50 years. You were a really great coach for our softball team when Kathy and I played softball. When Lisa and Sara played coach you were always there for them. It was always nice to see you when you came to Emilija's (my granddaughter) volley ball games. RIP my dear friend!
