Mark Kelchen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
Mark Allen Kelchen, 66, passed away on December 15, 2025. He was the husband of Teri Kelchen. They shared over 30 years together.

Born in Manchester, Iowa, he was the son of Robert and Patricia Kelchen. He attended John F. Kennedy High School, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served for eight years. Mark was a self-taught musician and a member of the Dave Dighton Band in his twenties and several more over the years. Mark retired from Mid-American Gas Company after a 30+ year career.

Mark was a member of Marine Corp League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his guitar and various other instruments, and spending time at his land. Mark will be remembered for his incredible storytelling, always having a joke or two to share, and his strong, impression-making, personality.

Mark is survived by his wife, Teri Kelchen; mother, Patricia Kelchen; brothers, Dave (Heather) and Jerry (Deanna) Kelchen; children, Robert Coleman, Lisa (Evan) Young; stepchildren, Katie (Ben) Merrell and Aric Merrell; and grandchildren Caleb Yoder, Emerson, Eve, and Ace Young. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Kelchen, and sister Cathy Kelchen.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A graveside service with military honors will follow.
