Mark Konakowitz Obituary
Mark T. Konakowitz, age 55, of Rochester, MN passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2024 at his home.
Mark Thomas Konakowitz was born April 23, 1969 in Manassas, Virginia the son of Thomas and Diane "Sam" (Arndt) Konakowitz. He was a 1987 graduate of John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN. In his youth he played goalie on the traveling youth hockey team. Mark was a career union plumber and was currently an instructor for the Local 6 plumbing and pipefitters union.
Mark was united in marriage to Tamara Weber on October 18, 2008 at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester. Together they enjoyed traveling and their dogs. Mark was an avid University of Minnesota Men's Hockey Fan. He bled maroon and gold through and through. He also enjoyed fishing and golf and recently purchased a new putter for the season. He was kind, generous, giving and made a friend with everyone he met. He had a big smile and tender heart. Mark participated in fundraising for the Rochester Youth Hockey program and hosted Girl Scout Day at the union hall to promote women working in the trade.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tami Konakowitz of Rochester, MN; his mother, Diane "Sam" Konakowitz of Rochester, MN; niece and nephew, Rena Hilleshiem of Duluth, MN and Luke Hilleshiem of Rochester, MN; great niece, Marie Hilleshiem; brother-in-law, Sam Hilleshiem; parents-in-law, Al and Donna Weber of Rochester, MN; brother-in-law, Tony (Nikki) Weber of Rochester, MN; niece and nephew, Sarah Weber of New York and Jacob Weber of Chatfield, MN along with a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom, and his sister, Jill Hilleshiem.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church 800 E. Silver Lake Rd., Rochester, MN. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church.
