You returned my Happy Father's Day text, but when you didn't return the one about Stranger Things, I knew something was wrong. I got the courage to google you last night and there it was -- your obit. I prayed this morning that you are in the arm's of the Lord and that he pours out all of the comfort and healing in Heaven above on your family. I'll miss our pointless movie debates, your ability to imitate anyone, and your texts about how proud you are of your family. I told the text gang, and we are all gutted. There's a hole in reality right now, the one that unfailingly opens when someone you thought would always be there disappears from this life and moves on to the next. It's the worst feeling in the world, but I will not give in to despair. Rather, I will carry my best memories of you forward for the rest of my days. In the meantime, go find Jester to let him know his dad is back. If I ever got a pixie "Bobcat," he'll have your name. The memorial articles are decent, but they utterly fail to capture your warmth, creativity, laugh, and heart. I'll always love you like the brother I never had, my friend, and treasure your memory like gold. I am better off for having known you.
