I recall meeting Mark several years ago at SMAT and thought what a handsome young man even if I was old enough to be his mother. But I discovered Mark's real "beauty" was found in his thoughtful interaction and consideration of each young man and woman who nervously sat in the pilot's seat awaiting their first, second, or even their third checkride. My last memory of Mark was on a day probably in mid-July of last year when as a DPE he was going through his annual FAA fly along - a tester testing the tester if you will - after which Mark said, "there, that's done for another year." Little did he know that this year would bring no more tests as he is now flying with his most magnificent Pilot for all eternity.

Mark Linsley was my DPE for my instrument exam, it was a pleasure getting to know him and he will be sorely missed in the aviation community. My condolences to his family, praying for comfort and strength during this season of grief.

Mark was born one day after our son Aaron. They were good buddies and basketball teammates. Often Mark would be at our home with our boys and other friends for rousing games of pick up basketball. Decent, polite and fun loving young men all. These were the best of times.

Mark also showed up frequently to play Sunday night basketball at the Newaygo high school gym. Everyone always wanted him on their team as he was quick, a fierce competitor and prolific scorer.

Most of all, Mark lived and loved the Christian faith that he professed. Upright in character and compassionate to all.

Mark´s untimely passing is a heavy burden and loss to all who knew and loved him. He has been called home to heaven and in the arms of Christ we now entrust him.
