Mark David Loszewski, age 69, of Detroit, passed away on June 23, 2025. Born on September 23, 1955, to Henry and Rose Loszewski, Mark lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and quiet strength.
A proud Spartan, Mark earned his Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Michigan State University and later completed his Master's Degree at Wayne State University, becoming a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. He spent three decades serving veterans at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where he worked in the Psychology Department helping individuals battling addiction. Mark founded the Suboxone Clinic at the VA, transforming the path to recovery for countless patients. His gentle heart, deep empathy, and unwavering belief in second chances left an enduring legacy and saved hundreds of lives.
It was at the VA where Mark met Michelle Parra, the love of his life. After two months of determined wooing, they began a journey of 28 years together. Whether it was a quick trip to the store, a weekend getaway, or a visit to the casino, they did everything hand-in-hand. She loved his blue eyes-he loved everything about her.
Mark had a deep affection for animals and now will be rejoined with his beloved pets Willow, Koda, and Cleo. He enjoyed NPR, sharing corny jokes, and spending time with family. He was deeply open-hearted and always ready to help anyone in need. If he knew someone was struggling, he would quietly step in-buying them lunch, offering comfort, or simply being present. His kindness was instinctive, and his compassion reached everyone he encountered.
He was a devoted brother of Mike Loszewski (Pam) and Linda Girard (Garth), a proud uncle to Michael (Kristen), Timothy, Steven (Ashley), Cleland (Anna), and Ella, and a cherished great-uncle. He was also a caring and constant support to Michelle's daughter, Katherine.
Mark's life will be celebrated on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 3:00–8:00 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home – Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel (32515 Woodward Avenue,
Royal Oak, MI 48073). A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, June 30, at 9:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.
Memorial contributions in Mark's honor may be made to Michigan Humane Society, National Public Radio, or The
Alzheimer's Association.
Mark's legacy of love and healing lives on through the lives he touched. He will be dearly missed.
