Mark McMahan Obituary

Mark McMahan, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 5, 2026.

The beloved son of Judith Buchanan and George McMahan, Mark was raised from an early age with love and affection by his mother, Judith, and his stepfather, Dr. Charles Austin. Mark grew up in Anderson, Indiana, and was a 1972 graduate of Anderson High School. He attended the University of Arizona and, upon graduation, returned home to carry on a proud family legacy, taking the helm of Hoyt-Wright.

In 1981, Mark married his wife, Darlene Hilligoss. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage and built a life centered on family with their two sons, Colin (Angela) and Trent (Katie). Later, he spent his time with his treasured grandsons: Owen, Rory, Jamieson, and Brady.

After his tenure at Hoyt-Wright, Mark began a second career as an Asset Management Recovery Consultant. He spent the remainder of his professional years working across the country helping others navigate the same business challenges he faced at Hoyt-Wright.

In 1996, Mark and Darlene moved their family from Anderson to Pendleton. Dedicating time to his sons remained his greatest priority. Throughout their youth, Mark was an enthusiastic presence in their lives, serving as their biggest fan across rounds of golf, tennis sets, and games of baseball, football, and basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Colin (Angela) and Trent (Katie); and his grandsons, Owen, Rory, Jamieson, and Brady. He is also survived by his siblings, Michaela Richardson, Melinda Thompson, Michael McMahan, Megan Golabowski, and Charlie Austin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at the Anderson Country Club, 602 North Shore Blvd., Anderson, IN 46011.
