Mark Meadows Obituary

Mark was a lifelong Memphian, and son to Dan and Joan Meadows. He died peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

He leaves his beloved wife of 25 years, Julie Hayden Meadows; son Brooks Meadows and his wife Halle; daughter Madison Reep, her husband Hunter and daughter Sophie; son Hayden Meadows; sister Lindy Montgomery and her husband Calvin; sister-in-laws Jane Hayden; Kate Marconi and her husband Jim; brother-in-law Bill Hayden and his wife Laurel. He will also be greatly missed by his nephews, Ryan Montgomery and his wife Jessica, Nick Montgomery and his wife Brandi, Marc Anthony Marconi, Jack and Beau Hayden, and nieces Madeline and Maria Marconi. He was blessed to have a lifelong best friend, Pat Powers, as well as the Molti Cugnini ("Many Cousins") who adopted him as their own.

After graduating from Christian Brothers High School, where he played varsity baseball four years and earned Best of the Preps honors in 1977-1978, Mark played on the Christian Brothers University baseball team, where he set the school record for career homeruns. In addition to his athletic prowess, Mark was an exceptional student and writer, graduating second in his class at CBU. After college, Mark joined Federal Express where he worked for 37 years. He was known best for his kindness, his fun spirit, and his willingness to dance like no one was watching (although they definitely were). During his career, Mark was recognized several times with a Five Star Award, the most prestigious recognition granted by FedEx Corporation for outstanding customer service and support. He also received the President's award for the work of his team. Mark was particularly proud to have a 5-digit employee number, and retired from FedEx in 2021 as Senior Manager of Revenue Services.

Mark adored his three children and enjoyed coaching and cheering them on. He was a loyal fan of CBHS and the Chicago Cubs throughout his life. He continued to play summer softball with his best friends for 30 years, wearing his longtime number, #9. After retiring from FedEx, Mark often spent his afternoons handing out sack lunches he prepared to homeless people across the city. He loved spending time outdoors, playing golf and enjoying long walks through Shelby Farms Park. And he delighted in the recent arrival of his 1-year old granddaughter Sophie whom he visited in North Carolina whenever he had the chance.

Mark radiated a zest for life despite suffering through three bouts of cancer and many other health challenges. He was a loyal and true friend who will be deeply missed by many people in the CBHS, St. Louis and FedEx communities. His friends were inspired by his fighting spirit and giving heart which were evidence of his deeply rooted faith in God. Mark was outspoken about his love for the Lord, his family and his country.

Mark and Julie were members of St. Louis Catholic Church for more than 23 years. Julie and the family extend heartfelt thanks to so many who have shared love, prayers, and support throughout these years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Catholic Charities of West Tennessee or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Mark was such a fine young man, he was my senior manager at FedEx at the time I retired and it was a pleasure working with him.
Our paths continued to cross over the years and it was always so good to see him again.
It was a privilege and blessing to know Mark, may his sweet soul be in heaven with the Lord.
With deepest sympathy for his family,
Mary Prince

I had the privilege of working for Mark on his invoice team for 5 years before I retired from FedEx. He made the job fun and enjoyable and certainly we did our best because we wanted to show Mark how much we respected him. My th0ughts and prayers to all his family and friends in Memphis.

I am so sorry for Mark´s passing. I did not get to spend a lot of time with him, but when a person is as genuine as Mark, you didn´t have to be around him much to tell the kind of caring person he was. I know he will be missed and remembered.
