Mark was the most beautiful person I´ve ever met. I will never forget the first time I seen Mark. It was back in the 90´s. I was walking down 4th st and he was just standing at the corner. Mark was just standing there. I didn´t cross the street cause he looked like a real freaking statue. With those big beautiful eyes and smile. That was so cute and funny. We also would eat together at smash burgers when he came in from time to time. Get your rest buddy

Benny Spalding. As I was going through a closet the other day I came across two drawings that Mark had done for me a few years back. It made me smile to think of him again. The world could use a few more people like him

Mark was a delight..no matter his circumstances, he seem to not allow it to interfere with a warm smile, lit up eyes he carried so brightly and the talent of drawing he loved so well. God rest your soul Mark.

Mark Anthony has new surroundings to draw and I am sure they are so beautiful. I hope they enjoy his drawings as much as all of us in Louisville did. He would come to the Graeter´s in the Highlands and we would talk. He was always so positive and full of light. First time I can remember seeing him was at the tarc stop when I was in high school in the late 90´s. He would always be drawing and having fun. He will be greatly missed.

My love and appreciation for Mark Anthony go back 25 years when he first sold me a custom song about my wife, Kristey.
From there, it blossomed as I moved into a new office in The Loop. More art, more gifts, more introductions of Mark to my friends and family. I even got to be part of an artist trio that included Mark Anthony on a series of prints called "Pink Ladies."
And as his love spread into my heart, I found spreading my love spread to others. While I am deeply saddened by losing him, I am so very grateful for making me a better person and our community a better, more inclusive place to live.

Just to let everyone know, Mark left this world with a smile on his face, when you would pass him in the hallway, he would say, Hey Mom how about a hug or how about a kiss right here, pointing to his cheek. He was one of the sweetest residents I´ve ever taken care of, he will be missed, RIP Mark.

Mark was like my big get well card. Every time he saw me he didn´t just say HI he said HI MISS AMERICA! I just want to say THANK YOU MARK. Now it´s time for me to create that card for him.

I first saw Mark dancing on Outer Loop about 25 years ago and then I got to know him when I had the pleasure of being one of his nurses. He always had a beautiful smile and a kind word. He would call me Mama when he couldn´t remember my name but asked me if that offended me. I told him I was only a couple of years older than him but he could call me Mama if he wanted to. I was at Walmart with my grandsons one time and saw Mark sitting on the bus bench so I introduced the boys to him. They were maybe 5 and 6 at the time, now they´re 11 and 12 and still ask about him often. I´m so very sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many. Rest In Peace big man.

Just a Highlands weirdo

November 30, 2022

He was such a staple there for almost as long as I had been hanging out and skateboarding along Bardstown road, starting in the mid 80s. A sighting of him brought joy. "There's Mark Anthony!!!" Old friends that moved away and had come back for a visit always asked if there had been a recent Mark Anthony sighting and they are saddened by my text about him passing. Losing him is another chunk lost of what truly made the Highlands, the Highlands in the 80s to early 2000s. Rest in peace, kind sir.

Mark Anthony was occasionally at the Fern Creek Dairy Queen when our small men's group met on Sunday mornings in late 90s-- early 2000s before church.
Infectious smile: Beautiful soul: Always so appreciative:

I remember Tony as far back as 1983. His smile was one of Louisville's greatest fixtures throughout the city. He "always" had a sweet smile, a waive, and a sincere hello for anyone he came into contact with. He was a gifted artist and always a kind "gentleman". May his soul rest in perfect peace.

I met Mark some years ago on the. #58 bus. He was a gentle soul. He always called m "Stephanie". I would find him every year in the Highlands and give him a Christmas stocking at Christmas time and an Easter basket at Easter. Some times I would go into Fat Jimmy´s and get us a sandwich while I waited for the bus or Heine Brothers for a hot chocolate. Mark was more than an artist, he was a friend. I remember one Sunday I went into Heine Bros. for a coffee before church. Mark dug into his pockets and handed me a handful of pennies and said, " put this in the offering from me." I did just as he requested.

I met Mark over 40 years ago when he always came into the McDonald´s at 2nd Broadway where I work. He always had the friendliest smile and he always called me Mr. Benny. I would always give him a free lunch and he was so great full. When he would see my wife Dianne, he would call her Mrs. Benny, one day after I retired I saw him and my wife gave him a new pair of shoes size 17. He gave her the biggest hug and that big smile. We would always look for him whenever we would drive downtown we will miss him so much.

Mark was a great man. I met him when I was homeless, and had lost everything.
He always has a smile, and loved everyone.
He and I spoke regularly, even if just in passing. He was always positive, and kind. I hadn't seen him in a few years, due to having gotten back on my feet, and moving away.
He had a beautiful soul. We all should be more like him.
God puts people like him on Earth for a reason.
I will miss him.

Mark was a gift from the universe to all of us with a heart for him in Louisville. I met him in `93 in twice told coffee, I was 16ish and he greeted me as soon as he saw me walk into the back room for an open mic we were both there for. I´ve been in love with his energy since and have been a long time fan and when I could supporter. He was too for this world. I can´t wait to see him again someday as stardust! Rest in Power King! Louisville loves you and I´ll never forget you and your beautiful spirit. Thank you for making me feel welcome! You gave us all so much love! You´re better than most kid!

Amen.

I have a "Mark Anthony Mulligan" original artwork. It was purchased directly from Tony when I met him on Main Street in the eighties. I've never forgotten his smiling face, positive attitude and one of a kind personality.

He would come over to my house to be bathed & always tell me that he loves the lotion & polo cologne it made him feel like he had been to the spa.RIP MARC
