Mark “Nick” Nicolitz, a native of Whittier, California, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 62.

Nick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and dependability touched everyone who knew him. He was a proud member of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, where he found community and strength through his faith.

Nick had a gift for working with his hands and loved spending time outdoors, whether he was building something new or simply enjoying the fresh air. He had an adventurous spirit—especially when riding four-wheelers—and could always be counted on to bring laughter, energy, and a good time to any gathering. More than anything, Nick treasured moments spent with his family. His love for them was evident in all he did, and his steady presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Bechtel Nicolitz; his children, Samantha Nicolitz and Matthew Bechtel; his brothers, Scott Nicolitz and Curt Nicolitz; and his beloved grandchildren, Bhrooklyn, Mia, Owen, and Noah.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Hurd and Rino Nicolitz, who surely welcomed him home with open arms.

Nick will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering reliability, and his love of life. His spirit lives on in the laughter and the warmth of his family, and the countless lives he quietly made better through his willingness to help.

A memorial service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held at a later date in Baton Rouge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
