AIKEN, SC – KENNETH MARK NIXON, 60, beloved husband of Connie Wise Nixon, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Orangeburg, SC, Mark was a son of the late Rev. Kenneth W. and Ann Martin Nixon. As a son of a Baptist minister, Mark lived in a number of towns throughout South Carolina. He attended the old Aiken Elementary and graduated from Conway High School. He moved back to Aiken in the early 80’s to open and manage the new Bilo Grocery Store. He then drove a truck for Coca Cola Co. He and his mother established Forest View Manor Assisted Living in Edgefield County in 1988. Mark continued on as the administrator until his death. He was an active member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and usher. Mark was an avid golfer and tennis player.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 34 years, Connie, include four children, Leslie Nixon, Johnston, SC, Cameron Nixon, Aiken, Kasey Nixon, Aiken, Renee Cook (Scott), Loris, SC; four grandchildren; three sisters, Daran Felts (Danny), Clarksville, TN, Vonne Bullock (Maxie), Greenwood, SC, Kim Sansbury (Walter), Greenwood, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 9th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Saturday morning, September 10th at 11 o’clock in Millbrook Baptist Church with The Revs. Dr. Steve Cannon and Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Boswell, Eddie Carter, John Clark, Terry Colvin, Don Hamilton, Curtis Napier, Kevin Orander and Gregg Stephens. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Whittler’s.
The family would like to offer their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Aaron Flanders and the staff of Augusta Oncology for their outstanding care during Mark’s illness.
