Mark Oppie

Mark J. Oppie, age 65, of Sevierville, TN, passed away on July 28, 2023, after a courageous fight against cancer.
Mr. Oppie grew up in Fort Worth, TX, where he attended many TCU football practices and games. It was during this point in his childhood that he developed his strong passion for TCU athletics. After graduating from Arlington High School (Arlington, TX), Mr. Oppie pursued several career fields but settled on serving the deaf community at the Tennessee School for the Deaf, where he retired. Mr. Oppie also worked for the City of Sevierville, where he was indispensable at the bowling alley. Mr. Oppie's favorite hobby was golf, playing as often as he could at area golf courses. Mr. Oppie also loved running and coaching youth bowling leagues, where he was known simply as "Coach Mark."
Mr. Oppie was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Oppie, and his mother, Mae S. Oppie. Mr. Oppie is survived by his sister, Julie A. Oppie of Fort Worth, TX, his brother, Clint A. Oppie of Lacey, WA, countless friends, and his two cherished black labs, Maverick and Abby.
Funeral services will be held at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting to honor Mr. Oppie's wishes by donating to their local ASPCA chapter.
Mr. Oppie left an indelible mark on the greater Knoxville area with his generosity and loving nature. Although he has departed this earthly realm to join his beloved Savior, he will not be forgotten.
