Mark William Pate was born on December 29, 1978, and died on June 20, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arlon Weems of Stephenville; grandmother, Ofelia Pate

of Bluff Dale; and Gammy, LaRue Weems of Stephenville.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Pate, and children, William Dunaway and Melanie Pate of Burleson; his parents, Rodney and Leann Pate of Stephenville, Texas; and his sister, Jennifer Pate of Howell, of Michigan. He is also survived by his grandfather, Marlin Pate of Bluff Dale; mother-in-law, Alice Swanson of Burleson, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alex and Kristy Philips; niece, Madison Philips of Burleson, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mark was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who was called home to his Lord and Savior. He deeply loved Melissa, William, and Melanie, and was present at every activity they were involved in. He loved the outdoors and camping, and was an Eagle Scout like his grandfather before him. He proudly guided his son through the same path to achieve his Eagle Scout rank. Mark was also a member of the Order of the Arrow and Wood Badge.

Mark and his son enjoyed building Legos and sharing their love for Star Wars and Marvel when they weren't camping. He was a dedicated supporter of the Joshua Band, attending every performance to watch his daughter march and perform. He encouraged his children to chase their dreams and was always ready with support and advice.

Mark was a servant at heart, and his professional life reflected that calling. He began his career as a firefighter in Joshua, later becoming a police officer with the City of Joshua and serving on the Johnson County STOP Task Force. He went on to serve as a police officer with the City of Burleson, where he worked as a patrol officer, accident investigator, Burleson ISD School Resource Officer, SWAT officer, Auto Task Force member, and detective. He was known as a kind, passionate, and dedicated member of the department who loved serving both his community and his colleagues.

In his final act of service, Mark gave the gift of life to others through organ donation. His kindness and servant's demeanor will be passed on, where he will live on forever.
