Mark C. Payes, age 46 of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on May 12, 2025 at home. Born in Chester, PA, raised in Boothwyn, PA and previously from Bear, DE. A Welder by trade, he started his career with General Marine & Industrial Services for 20 years. Mark graduated from Upper Chichester High School, Class of 1996.
He was passionate about the sport of fishing. He also enjoyed boating and golfing. Mark, a devoted father, also coached his son's baseball team in Little League. His 3 children were his life. He loved taking his children on nature walks, fishing, camping, and to the beach.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Pennington Vita, and a brother, Michael Payes. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Valerie Pergolini, three children, Sienna, Gianna and Mark Payes Jr., father and step-mother, Michael and Linda Payes, brother, Matthew Payes, 2 sisters, Melissa (Barry) Austin & Colleen (Joe) DeLuzio and 3 step-siblings, Ann (Tom) Boyes, Celeste DeCecco &, Jackie (Tommy) Quagliarello, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16th, 9:30-11:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00AM. Interment will remain private. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research (). Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com
