Dear Mark Peachey family - children, grandchildren, siblings and spouses, nieces and nephews, and extended family:

I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this. Want you to know that I have been praying for you almost every single day since I heard of your heartbreaking news. We'll all meet with him again where there are no tears, but I know that on this side of Heaven, it hurts. Know that all of you are loved and prayed for continuously!

I still miss Mark every day. I took him to an Eagles concert (his First) and he was so excited. He couldn´t get over the great music and the huge crowd. Everyone was standing, singing along, and dancing and he was all smiles. I convinced him to join me and we danced for several songs. I´ll never forget that amazing time with the sweetest man I have ever known. While I was waiting in my car at the cemetery, the song ,"Peaceful, Easy, Feeling" randomly came on and every time I hear it I remember that wonderful night with Mark. Love you my dearest friend

It's hard to decide which story to share of Mark. Some of my first memories of Mark are my earliest memories of living in PA. I remember the Laurelville staff joking with him about how he would pour applesauce on top of ANYTHING. I remember him teaching my sister and I how to hold the rabbits, bottle feed the calf, help feed the animals, and even "ride" the miniature horse at the petting zoo.

But Mark had much more of an impact on me as a young adult. I worked with him doing painting projects and home repair/remodel for a season. It was so much fun working with him! We shared laughter and light hearted conversation, as well as deep talks about life and faith. He was a great friend and mentor to me. He modeled genuine compassion and gentle curiosity. He was willing to be authentic, expressing questions and doubts, sharing his own convictions while still open to the perspectives of others. He lifted others up by being in touch with the simple joys of life. He inspired me by the way he approached both strangers and friends. By working with him, I learned that a life of ministry is possible in any vocation.

Mark also empowered me as a young woman. He never 'mansplained' anything to me. He taught me as we worked together and would give me opportunities to try new tasks with support. And then, he completely trusted me to do the things that I felt confident accomplishing on my own. I am so thankful for the time we spent together and the lasting impact he's had on my life.

Mark was instrumental to Laurelville Mennonite Church Center. He is widely known for creating a petting zoo and serving many years in maintenance doing hundreds of projects to make Laurelville beautiful and welcoming and functioning. I have a fond memory of Mark to share... Theresa, when your family was staying in one of the Laurelville cottages, I heard loud squealing & screaming by the playground. My mom antennae immediately went up, so I went to investigate. Mark was speed crawling on all fours through the mulch (ouch), chasing grandkids around as a bear. They were happy squeals I was hearing, they LOVED it! I never saw him looming over kids, rather he lit up while engaging with them on their level. He will be missed. Thank God for the day you will be/we all will be reunited again. Lifting you all in prayer.

Mark was a dear brother in the Lord for over 15 years, and a fellow men´s prayer breakfast member. He was one of the most gentle, compassionate, hard working, caring and sweet spirited men of God I´ve ever had the privilege to call my friend. May he be welcomed into the presence of God, receive His eternal love, joy and reward for all the lives he positively affected, and led to Jesus. I love you my brother, until we meet again...

I worked with Mark in maintenance at Laurelville for two years and we quickly and easily became very close friends. We shared deeply and laughed often as we worked. After moving to Indiana, Mark and I could call or visit in person and pick up right where we left off. He genuinely cared for others. My heart is broken as I will miss him very much.
