Mark Sr. was born to James and Rachel Mae Prince in Alliance, Ohio, growing up around family in a close-knit community. In high school, he was a member of the track team before graduating from Alliance High School in 1963. He would later go on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Western College in California.
He served in both the US Army and the US Air Force, allowing him to travel to many places around the world. Honorably discharged with numerous military decorations and a proud Vietnam Veteran, Mark Sr. then embarked on a private sector career, working for several distinguished aerospace companies and attending space shuttle launches. He later added a Civil Service component to his career as a Logistics Engineer.
After retirement, he worked tirelessly with many civic organizations in a variety of positions, including Past Sr. Vice Commander of VFW Franklin County; former Sr. Vice Commander of VFW Post 9473 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio., Lifelong member of the D.A.V. (Disabled Veterans Association), Past Commander of Alliance Post 791, and a Mason in Mt. Ogden Lodge #20.
Family was very important to Mark Sr.- those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Ingrid D. Prince. His children are Deanna Prince, Mark A. Prince Jr., and Dr. Heather Prince (Matt Brock). Grandchildren Willie Huff III, Brayden Prince, D'Adrienne Carter, twins Tristian and Kaitlyn Dienhoff, and Ethan Prince-Brock. Great-grandson PA'Larius Carter. Also numerous nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by James and Rachel (parents), Scott Prince (son), Betty Golden (sister), George Golden (brother), Patricia King (sister), and Ernest Prince (brother).
Mark A. Prince Sr.'s final resting place will be in Dayton National Cemetery, a national veterans cemetery, with military honors.
