Mark T. Roys, age 49, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Detroit, MI surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 9, 1975, to Thomas and Janice (Glovick) Roys in Orlando, Fl, making his way to Grand Rapids, MI in 1978 with his family. Mark graduated from Union High School class of 1993. He was a dedicated employee of One Stop, where he worked for numerous years as a forklift operator. On April 25, 2015, he married the love of his life, Diane Carsell at Olivet Evangelical Church. Together they cherished nine years full of love, laughter and many adventures. He was a faithful member of Port City Church- McGraft Campus for many years. Mark was known for his kindness, generosity, and caring nature. He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Celebrate Recovery, where he touched many lives with his dedication to helping others. Mark enjoyed volunteering his time at the Kids Food Basket and Hand to Hand, where he found joy in giving back to his community. He had a deep love for reading, crossword puzzles, video games, and Legos. A true fan of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Mark's enthusiasm for these franchises was a reflection of his adventurous spirit. One of Mark's greatest joys was spending time with his beloved wife, Diane. Together, they explored the woods, found new trails, and relished the peaceful moments spent on sandy beaches. He is survived by his wife, Diane Roys; father, Thomas (JoAnn) Roys; two brothers, Jeffrey Versluis and Lenny (Betsy) Versluis; two sisters, Lori (Donald) Murphy and Cheryl Carter; aunt, Kathy Glovick; in-laws, Thomas (Ruth) Carsell; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janice Roys; maternal grandma, Helen Glovick; paternal grandma, Lillian Roys; and great-aunt, Geraldine Brown. A Celebration of Mark's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St.,
Norton Shores, MI 49444 with visitation one-hour prior. A Visitation with the family will be held from 4-7:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at The Lee Chapel.
