Mark A. Shull Sr. of Mogadore, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on September 22, 1950, Mark was the youngest child of the late Vernon and Mary Ellen (K’Meyer) Shull.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barb (Lansinger) Shull, 4 children: Erin (Mike), Michael (Michelle), Matthew (Megan), and Mark Jr., and 7 grandchildren: Gracie, Eli, Sam, Anna, Ali, Maverick, and Micah. He was endlessly proud of them and made sure everyone else knew it. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy (Ron) Pelphrey and Linda (Rick) Motz.
Mark was full of life — animated, expressive, and impossible to ignore. He was loud, he loved to talk, and he rarely let a conversation pass quietly. He told stories with enthusiasm and detail, often talking over you in his excitement, hands moving and voice rising as he relived the moment. If you were around him, you were part of the story whether you planned to be or not. That vibrant presence, that unmistakable energy, is something his family will miss deeply.
Fishing wasn’t just something Mark enjoyed — it was who he was. His boat and Dale Walborn Reservoir were his second home. An avid bass angler and rubber industry veteran, Mark turned his passion into innovation when he developed a flexible reel handle grip known as the “Reel Grip.” What began as his idea in 2005 grew into a partnership and product line introduced at the Bassmaster Classic in Pittsburgh and manufactured locally in Northeast Ohio. The Reel Grip was his pride and joy — a reflection of his creativity, determination, and deep love for fishing.
Though his passing was sudden, the life he lived was full — full of voice, full of stories, and full of pride for his family. His presence will be felt in every story told, every lake breeze, and every room that feels just a little quieter without him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. A service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mogadore Fire Department, 135 S Cleveland Ave, Mogadore, OH 44260.
