Mark loved life and loved his friends and family. I am so thankful to have known Mark. He was kind, loving and brilliant. He was such a good friend to my husband and myself. He worked so hard and lived every minute like it was his last loving people and loving life. He had so much life to live and was taken far too soon. He loved Susan and would never have wanted her to see him suffer. I loved following them on all their fun travel and adventures. Mark was one of a kind and we miss him dearly.

I'll pack a bourbon flask and raise a toast on my next birding excursion - recalling good times watching Galveston birds with you Mark.

Mark was always willing to help people wherever he could, whether it be family history searches, explaining/teaching technical topics in ways people could understand, or just being present as a kind and genuine friend, never critical or judgmental, but always reassuring. His commitment to a daily exercise regimen to battle his illness, was a testament to his inner strength. A true gem in this world who will be missed by all who knew him.
