Turner-Eighner Funeral Home - SomonaukMark A. Stearns, 65, of Somonauk, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Silverado Memory Care in St. Charles, IL. He was born on January 16, 1960 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The son of Thomas and Barbara (Rook) Stearns. He married Laura K. Kirkendall on December 26, 1987, in Sloan, Iowa. He was a member of Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers for over 20 years. Mark loved to fish with his friends Bruce and Dean. He enjoyed farming and gardening and was known to be very particular about his lawn. Mark was also a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. Mark was known for his fierce loyalty to his family and friends and defending their honor with his loving protection.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Laura, his adored daughters, Samantha (Joshua) Killian and Chelsea Stearns; his mother, Barbara; three brothers, Jeffry (Janet) Stearns, Bryan (Susie) Stearns, and Scott (Lisa) Stearns; mother-in-law, Karen Kirkendall, one brother-in-law, Joe (Wendy) Kirkendall; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; father in-law, Jay Kirkendall and all his beloved grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at the funeral home in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Marc Maillefer officiating.
