Mark Tingey Obituary
Mark Bastian Tingey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 88, under the compassionate care of Eden Home Health and Hospice.
Born on November 26, 1936, in Preston, Idaho, Mark was the son of Warren Maurice Tingey and Ruth Bastian. He was raised on a family farm in Weston, Idaho, where he developed a lifelong love for hard work and the outdoors. He graduated from West Side High School in 1955. During his high school years, he was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball, football, and baseball.
Following high school, Mark served a faithful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. On August 6, 1959, he married his eternal sweetheart, Nancy Winn, in the Logan Temple. Their devoted partnership was blessed with five children, and later, they served another mission together in the Georgia Macon Mission. Mark also served as a bishop at Ricks College, an opportunity he enjoyed immensely and where he touched many lives.
Mark was a man who loved life. He found joy in sports, hunting, fishing, and golfing, but his greatest pleasure was always spending time with his family. Throughout his career, he first worked at Thiokol, and later at Blocks Clothing Store, Thompsons Sporting Goods, and sold real estate. He was also very active in the Civitans and the Chamber of Commerce, dedicating time to his community.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Winn Tingey, and their children: Derek (Karri) Tingey, Margo (James) Nef, Nicole (the late Ray) Michaelson, Tawnya (Larry) Stocking, and Trisha (Scott) Mellor. He leaves behind his brother, Kent Tingey, and sisters, Angela Weeks, RuthAnn Gilbert, and Shannan Olson. His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ruth, his sisters Karen Phillips and Geniel Siggard, and his son-in-law, Ray Michaelson.
The family expresses profound gratitude to the nurses of Eden Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful and dedicated care in his final days.
Mark's spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family will be missed and cherished forever.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am at the church located at 700 Park Street in Rexburg, Idaho. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place afterward at the Burton Cemetery.
