Mark W. Wieringa

Mark William Wieringa, 67, passed peacefully on January 10, 2025 in his home with his life partner, Deb Hector, by his side in La Jolla, California.

Mark was born on September 13, 1957 to Albert M. Wieringa and Jean L. Artley Wieringa in Chicago, IL.

After graduating from Willard High School in Ohio, Mark trained and became a licensed funeral director in the state of Ohio. However, he found that his true calling was building houses and to pursue his interests, he traveled to Prescott, Arizona, and received a degree in environmental building from Yavapai College. His passion was protecting the environment and saving old buildings, as well as creating new buildings powered by solar.

He moved to Prescott in 1994, married in 1995 and proceeded to completely remodel their home. Sharon and Mark remained married and were best friends until his death.

Fate found a way for Mark and Deb to meet when he remodeled her house. and a lasting bond was forged in 2003. They both went through a health crisis and supported each other unconditionally. When Deb inherited her family home in La Jolla, Mark again stepped up and completely refurbished their beautiful home.

Mark loved his dogs and his life in La Jolla, and was an avid supporter of Ohio State football.

He is survived by his brother, Glenn (Rita) Wieringa, his sister Jan Wieringa (Taylor Louden), and his niece Livia Wieringa.
