Mark Richard Wright, 61, of Raymond, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at his residence following several months of failing health.
Born November 4, 1963 in Coshocton, OH, he was the son of the late Richard and Mildred (Miller) Wright. In addition to his parents in 2016, he was also preceded in death by a son, Matthew David Wright in 2019.
Growing up outside of Cooperdale, he spent many summers mowing the local cemeteries. A 1981graduate of Riverview High School in Warsaw, he went on to earn his Associates Degree in HVAC from ITT in Dayton. He began working in apartment maintenance until he accepted a position at Honda of America in Marysville on May 1, 1989. An unfortunate knee disability would cause him to have to take an early retirement in May of 2016. Mark loved to go camping, either in a group with family and friends or just him and Pam. He also loved to cook, whether at home or over a campfire. Virginia Beach was a favorite destination for summer vacations and they even took a road trip out west in 2017 to attend his niece’s wedding in Palm Springs, CA. Music was another favorite of Mark’s, whether it was country or rock and roll. He didn’t just listen to the music but also the words and story itself. There were many times the neighbors could hear the stereo cranking from the Wright’s house. He also enjoyed working with his hands and was Pam’s handyman. He was always working on something. He could always be found tending to one of his projects, finishing the basement, building a deck, updating the barn, running water and electricity to the barn or fencing in the field for the horses, goats, chickens and the donkey. His honey do list was always long and Pam was right beside him helping with whatever she could do. Even though he was not a “cat person,” the cat liked him, but his favorites were dogs, and his little buddy Skeeter, who will be missing him tremendously.
On December 15, 1984 in Roscoe Village, he married his wife of over 40 years, Pamela Sue (Hagans) Wright and she survives in Raymond. Mark is also survived by a son, Christopher Mark Wright; a brother, Philip Barcus; a sister; Joy Vance; grandchildren, Aubree, Hazel & Carson Wright; along with his nieces and nephews, Tony, Brandon, Carly, Zachary & Madison.
Services to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Reverend Jeremy Stout will officiate and burial will follow at the Raymond Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
