Marla Jan Hodges was born November 7, 1956 in Marshfield, Missouri to Joe and Nina Rice (McClanahan). She departed this life on December 6, 2023 at the age of 67.
Marla married the love of her life, Bill Hodges Jr. July 24, 1987. In 1989, they opened BAM Cartage in Springfield, Mo and continued to run that business until retirement. She loved being a 'Granny' to her grandchildren, they were the light of her life. Despite living with Multiple Sclerosis for many years, Marla never complained. She was a warrior of strength, perseverance, dignity and was highly respected by friends and family. Her will to live life to the fullest and enjoy her family was the most important thing to her. Marla's sense of humor was one of a kind and she was always quick to make you smile and laugh. She will be missed dearly by friends and family; however, she walks once again and is pain-free, with her Savior.
Marla survived by her daughter Sarah Perryman and her son in law, Eric,
grandchildren: Alexa Reed (Seth), Megan Walker (Grant), Ava, Brett, and Charlotte, 3 great grandchildren, sister Marsha Stratton (Joe) and brother John Rice (Sheila) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Mike Rice; nephew, Brent Rice; granddaughter, Emma Perryman and husband, Bill Hodges.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 4-6pm at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
