Marlan Don Lewis peacefully entered a New Life on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Marlan displayed tremendous courage as he endured Lung Cancer for the last five years. Marlan was born February 7, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo. He was the seventh child of Rayford E. Lewis and Hilda L. Jackson Lewis. Marlan was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, brothers Raymond Lewis, Robert E. Lewis, and sister, Hilda Ray Lewis Foster. Marlan was educated in Kansas City, MO School District. He attended Seven Oaks Elementary School and Paseo High School, graduating in 1974. Immediately after graduation, he was employed by the Kansas City Star Newspaper. Marlan gave his life to Christ at a young age and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. E.E. Chappelle at Second Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri where he was a member. He loved the Lord and had a firm trust and hope in Jesus Christ. Marlan enjoyed all sports. He maintained a remarkable zest for life. His passion and enthusiasm were for family holidays, he had a big personality, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. He was an incredible, organized, detail-oriented, Handy Man and took great pride in doing things the right way. He could fix just about anything. From a young age, Marlan was known for his quick mind, deep curiosity and quiet kindness. Marlan's heart found love. He met the love of his life, his life companion, Christine Hill. They shared a testament to enduring love and companionship until Christine's passing, for over twenty-three years. Marlan was a kind man who found joy in spending precious time with his mother, the two of them enjoyed watching Football games on television together. His mother could always count on him to take her to appointments, grocery store trips and catering to her every need. Marlan will be forever loved and dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Marlan leaves to cherish his memory, Sister's Doris Lewis, Willa Lewis Cavole, Beverly Lewis Ayers, and Sheryl Lewis Judkins (Gary). Brother's Rayford Lewis (Donna), Tommy Lewis, and his lifelong best friend, Clarence Blaylock. Marlan leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name. Marlan was a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Love from the Family! 42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[a]" 43 Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23: 42-23 Memorial Services will be held on Saturday October 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 East Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109. Private Disposition.
