Marlene Amick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sebrell Funeral Home on Feb. 19, 2026.
Marlene Fike Amick, a cherished instructor, devoted mother, and adored sister, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on October 6, 1938, to Willie and Lela Fike, Marlene's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and compassion remains a beacon of light for her family and the community she so dearly influenced. A Memorial Service will be held on 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Clinton with visitation beginning at Noon. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at McLain Cemetery.

Marlene's educational journey saw its pinnacle as she graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, a foundation that would fuel her passionate career as an instructor for the deaf. Her dedication to education and her students was unparalleled, and her impact as an educator reached far beyond the classroom walls. Marlene's work was not just a job; it was a calling that she fulfilled with grace and excellence.

The void left by her late husband, Richard Amick, did not diminish the love and fortitude with which Marlene approached life. Her son, William Rhett Amick, and his wife, Kelli, of Raymond, MS, along with her sister, Helen Fike of Mobile, were the embodiment of her strength and love. Though she is preceded in death by her beloved Richard and her parents, her spirit of generosity and kindness lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

Marlene's interests painted the picture of a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her skill at cards and dominos was matched only by her prowess as a master puzzle builder. Her intricate puzzles, often gifted to friends and family, were more than just pastimes; they were reflections of her patient and meticulous nature, pieces of her heart given in the form of interlocking beauty.

Always one to lead by example, Marlene was an active and vital presence at the Wood Activity Center. Her role often extended to serving as a coordinator for the many groups she was a part of, showcasing her natural leadership and her talent for bringing people together. Marlene's commitment to her community was also evident in her devout participation at the First Baptist Church of Clinton, MS. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she served her church with the same fervor and love that she applied to every aspect of her life.

Marlene Fike Amick will be remembered as the epitome of what it means to be loving and kind. Her gentle spirit, her unwavering support, and her boundless love define a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire. She was a beacon of hope and a source of comfort, a woman whose memory will be treasured and held close in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Marlene's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of faith, and the enduring power of love.
