Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on May 11, 2025. Age 79 years.
Marlene was born on January 9, 1946, in Paw Paw, MI, to the late Miriam (Hissong) and George Farster. She and her two brothers, Wayne and Warren, were adopted on June 5, 1959, by Alice and Arthur Berridge. She grew up in St. Charles and graduated from Chesaning Union High School, class of 1964. Marlene then went on to graduate from Saginaw Beauty School.
On October 30, 1965, she married the love of her life, Harold Diener. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock. Marlene had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was a chorus singer for Chesaning Show Boat during high school and part of the choir at church. Marlene volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Store and at Martin Luther Nursing Home styling hair. Marlene had a love of the outdoors. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling with her husband, especially on their Sunday drives. Marlene never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone and had a special way of always making others feel loved and important.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Harold Diener, three sons: Brian (Chris) Diener, Randy Diener and friend Carol, Eric (Keri) Diener; grandchildren: Brittany (Joe) Taurence, Josh (Christie) Diener, Katie Diener, Evan Diener and Landon Diener, siblings: Sharon Hermann, Wayne (Guinda) Berridge, and Warren (Susan) Berridge, sister-in-law Wanda Farster, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was predeceased by her adopted parents, Arthur and Alice Berridge, brother George Farster, and brother-in-law Gary Hermann.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 23, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Rd. Hemlock, MI 48626. Rev. Philip Loescher will officiate with burial to follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock.
