Marlene Holiday Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana on Feb. 25, 2026.
Marlene June (Ness) Holiday, age 89, of Streetman, Texas, passed away peacefully in her room at the assisted living facility in Frisco, Texas on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her daughter, Susan Woods. Born June 1, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Maynard and Doris Ness. Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was filled with love, cooking, sharing, and service.

She is survived by sister, Josie Siegrist, her children, Kent Holiday and wife, Dianne, Kurt Holiday and wife Janna Kay, Susan Woods and husband, Patrick. She was a proud grandmother of Michael Holiday, Jonathan Holiday, Lauren Holiday, Ruth Anne Holiday, Joshuwa Holiday, and Kaitlin Hansen. She also is great-grandmother to Landon Holiday, Alyssa Holiday, Cambrianna Holiday, Hayden Holiday, Hunter Holiday, Lily Holiday, Dakota Holiday, Sawyer West, Jack West, William Baker, Grace Baker, and Chloe Hague. Marlene was proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Patrick, and her parents, Maynard and Doris.

She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed cooking any recipe that she could find in a cookbook. She often cooks meals for multiple guests, who enjoyed everything she made. Marlene also loved cooking and sharing her talents with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours baking with Lauren Holiday on trips from college. She loved to stay up late and watch classic movies by herself or with friends. Travel was a passion of hers. She took a trip to Europe after high school with several of her girlfriends. She loved to see the world and the beauty of architecture and the things that God has created. Conversations were easy for Marlene. She often talked for hours with friends in her home or on the telephone. God gifted her with the gift of gab.

Above all, Marlene loved her husband and family. She was a wonderful mother, who served her family selflessly on a consistent basis. Time and resources were never a problem for her; she always did whatever needed to be done and they were done superbly. For that we will always be grateful.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. A funeral service to celebrate Marlene's life will be Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 at Lakeside Methodist Church in Streetman, Texas.
