Marlene Emily Jacinto Knox passed away on Sunday January 25th, 2026. Marlene was born October 20, 1935
at Redlands Community Hospital to the parents of John and Rose Jacinto. She graduated from Redlands High School in 1953. While in high school she was a member of Kimberly Juniors, Triple Trio, and the Acappella Choir. After graduation she attended San Bernardino Valley College and graduated with an AA degree. She started her career in bookkeeping at Real Gold Company and was employed for five years. In 1955 she married Ralph Knox and had four children. Marlene continued her career in bookkeeping with William J. Jacinto Farming, Mentone Plaza Liquor and the Oar House Bar/Restaurant with her father, John Jacinto, brother William "Bill" Jacinto, and nephew Gary Jacinto in Mentone California. In 1992, she became a business partner with her nephew Gary Jacinto in the purchase of Greenspot Market also located in Mentone California. Marlene retired in 2003.
During Marlene's 30th class reunion she reunited with her old high school sweetheart, John Allen, and was married for thirty-four wonderful years. One of Marlene's greatest gratifications in life was being a mother to her four children, being a member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir, and being a member of the Portuguese American Club. She has been a member of the Portuguese American club since 1953. One of Marlene's favorite pass times was spending time at her family and vacation home in Newport Beach California with her children, cousins, friends. Many hours were spent at this beach house playing cards, taking walks to Newport Pier, and eating her favorite desserts. One of Marlene's favorite holidays, as we all know, is Christmas. Through the years she has collected over nine hundred Santa Clauses from all over the world that range from the very small to the very large. These Santa's are proudly displayed throughout her home all year long that bring joy and happiness to every room.
Marlene was a loving mother, and nothing meant more to her than her family. She was a very caring person and always opened her heart and home to anyone in need of a warm home-cooked meal, and a smile.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Jacinto, her brother William (Bill) Jacinto and her husband John Allen.
Marlene is survived by her children: Bill Knox of Redlands CA; John Knox of Highland CA; Patrick Knox of Highland CA; and Kelly Knox of Mentone CA. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Johna Allen; Shirley Allen and Deanna (Allen) Jarrett. Marlene is the proud grandmother to three grandchildren, one great-grand child and one great-great-grand child. Lastly, her beloved black cat Blacky will miss her tremendously.
