Marlene Martinson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunlap Memorial Home on Mar. 13, 2026.
Marlene Martinson, 88, of Jefferson, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lake House Assisted Living in Lake Mills.

Marlene was born on September 10, 1937, the beloved daughter of Lewis and Lucille Diedrich. On September 13, 1958, she married the love of her life, Warren Martinson and together they built a family grounded in care, devotion, and quiet strength.

A nurse by profession and by nature, Marlene spent much of her life caring for others. Her compassion extended far beyond her work - she cared deeply for her family and for her late dog, Sophie, who brought her great comfort and companionship. Marlene was known for always putting others first and for meeting every challenge with grace. She never complained, even in difficult times, and her gentle presence made life better for those around her.

Marlene enjoyed reading, sewing, collecting many different things and spending time with her family. These simple joys reflected the way she lived-steady, thoughtful, and full of love.

She is survived by her children: James Martinson of Montello; Laura Cox (Michael) Cox of Jefferson; and Eric (Regina) Martinson of East Troy. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kara (Chad) Carpenter; Morgan Martinson; Taylor (Chris) Gitzel; and Logan Cox; as well as her great grandchildren: Troy and Peyton Stillman and McCoy Carpenter.

Honoring Marlene's wishes, no service will be held.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Lake House Assisted Living for their care over the past several months, and to Rainbow Hospice for the compassion and support they provided during Marlene's final eight months and final days.
