Marlene Moorman, 86, of Baxter, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Newton Healthcare Center in Newton. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main Steet) in Baxter from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Marlene was born in Colfax, Iowa, on October 16, 1938, to Arthur and Loraine (Barns) Vansice. She grew up in Baxter where she graduated from with the Baxter High
School class of 1957. Marlene married the love of her life, Bennie Moorman on May 1, 1959. The couple resided on the farm outside of Baxter. Together they raised their children, chickens, turkeys, cattle, and pigs on the farm together. Marlene worked at a nurse's aide at the Baxter Nursing Home for many years.
She was a member of the Baxter Congregational Church where she served with the Women's Fellowship. Marlene was also actively involved with the ODO Club, Garden
Club, and the Red Hat Ladies.
Marlene loved spending time with her grandchildren, baking, gardening, loved the color purple, entering Iowa State Fair competitions, and helping with the Jasper County
Fair.
Marlene leaves behind her children Kevin (Lori) Moorman of Baxter, Kendall (Natalie) Moorman of Baxter, Kathie (Carlton) Saunders of Cedar Rapids, Kent (Debby)
Moorman of Baxter, and Karmen Verhey of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-children; siblings John Vansice, Norman (Charlene) Vansice and Charles (Linda) Vansice; many
nieces and nephews; and special friend Leonard Simpson.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bennie, grandson Jacob Moorman, and son-in-law Brian Verhey.
Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Marlene and her family.
