One of my first memories of Marlene is at the Tri-City Curling Club. She was in the house and a stone was coming in slow. She pretended to pull start her broom in order to give it more power to bring that stone into the house. She also added sound effects. It was at that moment that I wanted to get to know her. I also golfed with her. We had a lot of laughs on the the golf course. One time Marlene and I put on "rally hats", we put our golf hats on upside down and backwards. My mom, Fay Whitley, took one look at us and asked "how am I suppose to golf with you two?" Marlene would also throw acorns at me while I was trying to take my shot. Of course I had no idea it was Marlene doing it until after. She really enjoyed life and I enjoyed knowing her. She will be missed.
