Marlene Greglock Nowakowski Hoey, 81, a resident of Duryea, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 04, 2024, at Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.
Born on September 02, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, Marlene was one of five children born to the late Joseph Greglock and Elizabeth Chorba Greglock.
Raised in Swoyersville, Marlene was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1961, and furthered her education at Wilkes College, now Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre.
As a young woman, Marlene worked in the local banking industry, starting as a teller and eventually working her way up to lead teller. Leaving work to raise her children, she eventually reentered the workforce as a bookkeeper in the local hotel industry until her retirement.
Marlene was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
In addition to her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Greglock, Marlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph L. Nowakowski, who passed away on November 18, 2005; her second husband, Donald E. Hoey Sr., who passed away on April 29, 2020; her brother, Joseph Greglock; and her sisters, Janet McLaughlin Schall and Dolores Warner.
Marlene is survived by her son, Ken Nowakowski and his wife, Laurie; her daughter, Lisa Price; her grandchildren, Alyssa Price, Tyler Nowakowski, Abigail Nowakowski, and Evan Nowakowski; her sister, Sharon Greglock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Marlene's wishes, a private viewing and funeral service was held for her immediate family.
Interment was in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Marlene's funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
