Marlene E. Risch, 85 of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Marlene was born in Newark, NJ on May 6, 1937 to her parents Milton and Mary (nee: Keogan) Peters.
Marlene and her husband Justin moved from Nutley to Toms River in 1973. She worked as a clerk for the First National Bank of Toms River and as a manager at Howard Johnsons Restaurant. Marlene was a parishioner at St. Joseph's RC Church. She loved to travel and has been to Europe and the Islands. She was an avid reader and loved the beach. After the passing of her husband, Justin in 2001, Marlene spent a lot of time with her friends in Myrtle Beach.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years Justin, her son William, her brothers William Peters and Donald Peters, as well as her son-in-law, Clifford Decker III.
Surviving Marlene are her two daughters, Denise Decker, and Kathleen Lenz and her husband Mike, her daughter in law Debra Risch, her five grandchildren, Travis Decker, Megan Decker, Kevin Risch, Erica Risch, and Allison Lenz as well as her brother Robert Peters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Seacrest Nursing Home in Little Egg Harbor for their dedication and compassion shown to Marlene.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 4PM to 8PM at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marlene will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:30AM at St. Josephs RC Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. Burial will immediately follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Cedar Grove Avenue, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marlene's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be sent to www.carmonabolenfh.com
