Marlene E. Smith, 78, of Grandview Avenue in Union Township, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. She was born in Kittanning, PA, on June 12, 1946, the daughter of the late Woodrow Synder and Sara (Clever) Gerhard. She married the late Edward E. Smith, he died on April 23, 2021. Mrs. Smith worked for Lawson’s as a cashier, and then was a cook at Hamad’s Lounge. She loved Jigsaw puzzles, camping, bird feeding, and crafting.
She is survived by three children, Stephen R. Smith, Michael D. Smith and his wife Melissa, and Shelly R. Smith and her fiancé Scott Steingrabe, two grandchildren, Stevie-Lyn Smith and Matthew Smith and his fiancé Danielle Morici, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Eleanor Womer, Darlene Guthrie, and Kathy Snyder-Eddy.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, John ‘Jack’ Snyder, and one sister, Joanne Cercone.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Fred Gilbert will officiate.
