Marlene Taber Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 11, 2024.
Marlene Edith (Sticha) Taber, formerly of Eagle Bend, went home to be with the Lord, passing away at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, MN on September 6, 2024, at the age of 94.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with Pastor Randy Taber presiding. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Clotho, MN.
Marlene was born August 2, 1930, to Charley and Mayme Sticha at their farm in Iona Township, Todd County, MN. She was the youngest of four siblings, Eleanor, Billy, and Milo, and was a loving and protective sister. She loved her family and they loved her. She liked to read and walked great distances as needed for her schooling, which included a country school and up through Eagle Bend High School. Upon graduation in 1947, she worked at the Eagle Bend Produce candling eggs.
Introduced through each other's siblings, Marlene married Delbert Taber on September 9, 1950. They were blessed with three sons, Randall born in 1952, Timothy born in 1956 and Terry born in 1962. After the boys had grown, she returned to working at the Eagle Bend Bakery, and then as a manager for the Eagle Bend Nutrition Site. Later in life, she worked in the Eagle Bend school system as a monitor and aide.
Marlene's interests included reading and traveling with family to Anaheim, CA, Washington, D.C., San Antonio, TX and many trips to Duluth. She was very involved with volunteering at the United Methodist Church with the Ladies Aide, teas, choir and neighborhood Birthday Club. She volunteered many hours at the nutrition site in town as well. An avid kazoo player in the Kitchen Klatter Band, she frequented many parades. She was a gardener, though highly disliked the weeding required. She loved shopping and finding a good deal both in stores and at garage sales. She also loved eating out Chinese food, especially stir fry. A rider of roller coasters, Marlene was an adventurer at heart. She was an avid collector of dolls, spoons, knickknacks, as well as a fan of polka music and a good dancer. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother.
Preceding Marlene in death were her parents, Charley and Mayme; husband, Delbert, brothers, Billy and Milo; sister, Eleanor Taber; and an infant sister.
She is survived by her sons, Randy (Kris) Taber of Brooklyn Park, Tim Taber of Glenwood, Terry Taber of Eagle Bend, along with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
