Marlene Frances Tutella

Marlene Tutella passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
She was a patient and loving (and oftentimes clumsy, but quick to laugh it off) wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Marlene spent most of her life in the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., area, with trips to New York City with her friend Hermine DeAngelo to catch a Bon Jovi concert and hop over subway turnstiles in a frantic bid to catch their train; and to Ocean City, Md., with her husband of more than four decades, Joseph Tutella, where she once tossed her entire crabbing line into the bay. An enigma in the kitchen, Marlene could burn water, yet she made the best Christmas cookies, pistachio cake, pound cake and pierogi from scratch. She was soft-spoken, quick to forgive and always accepting of individuals as they came. In short, a veritable angel on earth.
She leaves behind two children, Christa and Francisco; a son-in-law, Matthew; two grandchildren; and nephews and nieces whom she loved as her own. They will always love her.
A special thanks to Hermine DeAngelo for being a true friend and consistently there to support her.
A private celebration of Marlene's life will be held by family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks individuals to donate to their local soup kitchen or charity of their choice.
