Marlene A. Sheppard Vargo, 87, of Perryopolis, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 3, 1938 in Eureka Hollow, Smithton, PA she was the daughter of the late John C. and Anna E. McKito Sheppard. A lifelong resident of the Perryopolis area, Mrs. Vargo was a member of St. John The Baptist RC Church. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, making apricot and nut rolls during the holidays, and watch Hallmark movies. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching the NCAA, Pittsburgh Steelers and especially loved cheering on her Pittsburgh Pirates. Marlene led a serene life, finding happiness in the simple pleasures of family and the joy of being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son & daughter in law Rock A. & Corinne Vargo of Star Junction, daughter & son in law Rebecca & William Greenwood of Austintown, OH, son in law Mark Manack, twin sister Arlene Thompson of Belle Vernon, five grandchildren Rock Vargo II & wife Hannah, Megan Manack, Riley Vargo, Sydney Greenwood & Dante De Graff, Charles & Giovanna Manack, three great grandchildren Brayden, D'Angelo, Liam, and numerous nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles A. “Chud” Vargo, son Michael S. Vargo, daughter Victoria E. Vargo-Manack, brother Ronald Sheppard, and sister Pamela Simpson.

A private family interment was held on Saturday July 5, 2025 at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis. Marlene’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.
